Just one more day of waiting ... This weekend it's time for Heroes Dutch Comic Con Winter Edition 2024. We are so ready for the weekend, but we still have to tell you more about the guests of this weekend. Sit back and read all about the second half of the guest list. See you this weekend?
Joseph Morgan
Oh yeah! We are very excited about this guest, because he was in the top region of our wish list for a long time. And now it's finally happening. We are getting the chance to meet the one and only Joseph Morgan, who is mostly known for his role as the original vampire you love to hate: Klaus Mikaelson.
Joseph Morgan was born Joseph Martin on 16 May 1981 in London, England (U.K.). He is the oldest son of Nick Martin (a professional painter) and Sarah Martin. Joseph has a brother named Jack and a sister named Crystal. When Joseph was still very young, the family moved to Morriston, Swansea (Wales, U.K.), where he spent a significant part of his early life. Joseph was a very active child and loved sports, especially soccer. When he was about 5 years old, his maternal grandparents took him to see a production of "Peter Pan". When they were in the taxi on the way back home, Joseph was very quiet, in fact he was so quiet that his grandparents thought he didn't enjoy himself. However, when they asked him about it, he told them that he was trying to figure out how to make a hook out of his hand. Joseph was so impressed by what he saw, that he wanted to recreate it for his parents, when he got home. Eventually he used a coat hanger as a hook and the acting bug was planted. He later said that while growing up, he was always making up characters and dressing up.
Joseph attended Morriston Comprehensive School In Swansea, where he took part in school plays and enjoyed the art of story telling. After Morriston Comprehensive, he continued his education at Gower College, where he followed a BTEC Performing Arts Course. Joseph decided to move back to London in his late teens, to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He enrolled at the Central School of Speech and Drama, where he honed his craft and learned a lot. Fun Fact: Joseph's first audition ever was for Tom Riddle in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". Unfortunately he did not get the role, because that went to Christian Coulson. Not long after his graduation at the Central School, he landed the role of William Warley in "Master & Commander: Far Side of the World" (2003). The movie was directed by Peter Weir, who is also known for movie gems like; : "Dead Poets Society" and "The Truman Show". Not long after the completion of "Master and Commander", Joseph was hired by another iconic director. He landed the supporting role of Philotas in Oliver Stone's "Alexander" (2004). In this movie, he played alongside acting royalty, like: Anthony Hopkins, Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie. After "Alexander", Joseph went to do some theatre work on the stages of West End in London. He also played the role of Troy in 5 episode of the tv show "Hex". In the years that followed, he played a variety of roles in TV series and movies, like: "William & Mary" (2005, as Callum), "Mansfield Park" (2007, as William Pryce), "Mister Lonely" (2007, as James Dean), "Silent Witness" (2007, as Matthew Williams), "Doc Martin" (2007, as Mick Mabley) and "Casualty" (2008-2009, as Tony Reece).
Joseph's breakthrough came when he was cast in the lead"and title role of the TV mini series "Ben Hur" (2009). In 2011, he starred in the big
budget movie "Immortals" and he lands the role that meant his worldwide breakthrough, when he joins the cast of "The Vampire Diaries" in season 2 of the show. Joseph plays the role of the big bad Klaus Mikaelson, one of the Original Family of Vampires. He plays the role of Klaus in 51 episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" from 2011 until 2016. Not long after the introduction, the 'Originals' storyline becomes so popular, that a spin-off is created. This spin-off is called "The Originals" (duh) and ran from 2013 until 2018. Joseph plays the role of Klaus in 92 episodes. The character of Klaus evolved from the big bad antagonist to fan favorite over the years and this has everything to do with Joseph's charismatic portrayal of the hybrid vampire.During his time on the set of "The Vampire Diaries, he meets his future wife Persia White, but more about that later in the article. After "The Originals", Joseph played Young Jed in 3 episodes of "Animal Kingdom" (2019) and CJack60 in 9 episodes of "Brave New World". In 2022, he reprised his role as Klaus in 1 episodes of the "The Originals" spin-off "Legacies". From 2022 until 2023, he enters the DC Universe with his role as Sebastian Sanger in 11 episodes of Titans. Most recently he joined the cast of "Halo" in the second season of the show. He plays the role of James Ackerson in 8 episodes this year.
Joseph Morgan will be a guest at Heroes Dutch Comic Con in Utrecht on both days.

Persia White
Joseph isn't the only "The Vampire Diaries"/"The Originals" guest this weekend , because he is also bringing his wife actress Persia White, who plays Abby Bennett Wilson in "The Vampire Diaries". Of course she is also known for a lot of other things...
Persia Vanessa White was born on October 25th, 1972. Although most sources say that Persia was born in Miami, Florida (U.S.), there are also sources that state she was born in Nassau, Bahama's. What we do know is that Persia is one of the four children of a Bahamian father and an Irish American mother (a school teacher and civil rights activist). Persia spent most of her early childhood in the Bahama's, where she started taking ballet lessons at a young age. When she was about 8 years old, the family moved to Florida. One day Persia and her mother were walking down the street in Miami, when she was spotted by a talent scout for the Coconut Grove Children's Theater. The scout asked Persia if she was an actress and she immediately said yes! This is when her journey in acting, dance and music began. Her exposure to different cultures and her mother's activism played an important role in her career path and helped shape her character.
From a young age Persia had a strong sense of empathy and desire to make a positive impact on the world. At the age of 12, Persia became a vegetarian and she started taking part in protests against the nuclear bomb and for the welfare of the world. During her teenage years, she thought about becoming a politician, but she soon realised she was to outspoken for that, she couldn't keep her mouth shut. When Persia was is high school, she noticed that most of her peers did not know who the governor was, but everyone did know Madonna or Prince. At that point it hit her that she didn't have to go into politics, to let her voice be heard. She always loved the creative arts and realised that if she would become a famous artist, she could use that platform to make a change. Persia's talent and dedication led her to sign with the Ford Agency and after high school she obtained her Screen Actor's Guild Card. Persia moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment. Her first intention was to take a chance in the music industry. She was offered several album deals, but she turned them down due to the lack of creative control and freedom. Persia explains that she only wanted to make music if it felt good and honest for her. She decided to focus on her acting career.
In the early 90s, Persia made her acting debut with two uncredited roles in "Last Action Hero" (1993) and "Blue Chips" (1994). In the following years, she had a string of one episode roles in TV shows, like: "NYPD Blue" (1996), "Malibu Shores" (1996), "Saved by the Bell: The New Class" (1996), "Weird Science" (1997) and "The Burning Zone" (1997). Her first substantial role was as Denise Williams in "Breaker High" (1997-1998). Persia played the role in all 44 episodes of the show. Following the cancellation of the series, she returned to one-episode roles in shows like: "Brooklyn South" (1998), "Malcolm & Eddie" (1998), "The Steve Harvey Show" (1999) and "Clueless" (1999). In 2000, Persia lands the role that can be considered as her breakthrough. She lands the main role of Lynn Ann Searcy in the CBS sitcom "Girlfriends". The show revolves around the lives of 4 women (Toni, Maya, Lynn & Joan). It premiered on September 11th 2000 on CBS Television and the last episode aired on February 11th 2008. Persia played the role of Lynn in all 172 episodes of the show. In 2009, Persia played the role of Shea in the drama movie "Spoken Word". The story revolves around spoken word artist Cruz, who returns to his hometown in New Mexico to be with his dying father. When he is back, he struggles not to fall back into certain patterns of his past (drugs and alcohol. Persia plays the role of Shea, who is part of Cruz's support system.
From 2012 until 2017, Persia plays the recurring role of Abby Bennett Wilson in 7 episodes of "The Vampire Diaries". When her agents told her about the audition, she was immediately interested. She had heard about the show and even had some friends who were on it. She did extensive research to nail the audition and she did nail it. Persia said that she loved her time on the set of "The Vampire Diaries" and that the cast and crew was like one big family. She joined the cast in the third season and this is also where she met Joseph Morgan, who plays the role of Niklaus Mikaelson. The two clicked instantly and shared some mutual interests. Their relationship deepened when they worked together on Joseph Morgan's short film "Revelation". They started dating, fell in love and eventually married in Jamaica in 2014. Persia had a daughter (Mecca) from her previous relationship with musician Saul Williams, who was adopted by Joseph and also she also took his name. Back in 2012, Persia gained recognition for her role as Trenyce in the comedy drama movie "Dysfunctional Friends". In 2019, she reunited with her "Girlfriends" co-stars in an episode of "Black-ish". Ever since there have been rumours about a possible come-back for the show. Besides being an actress, Persia is also a passionate activist for animal rights and the environment. She is a producer and co-produced the award winning documentary "Earthlings" (2005). To top it all of she is also a very talented musician and in 2009 she released her debut solo album "Mecca". More recently she released the album "Love Letters".
Persia White will be a guest at Heroes Dutch Comic Con on both Saturday and Sunday.

Olivier Richters
The last guest we are talking about is also known as The Dutch Giant. He is a whopping 218 cm tall and he is taking Hollywood by storm. Olivier Richters will be at Dutch Comic Con this weekend!
Olivier Richters was born on September 5th, 1989 in Hilversum, The Netherlands as the second son of Reiner Richters and Marlou Buisman. He has an older brother named Rein. Although it was a premature birth, he was already significantly taller than the average baby (he was 60 cm) and was too tall for the incubator. He grew rapidly and as a toddler he was already a lot taller than his peers were. His height always made him stand out from the other kids. Olivier wasn't just the tall kid, he was the extremely tall kid. Olivier went to school in Hilversum and although he wasn't bullied that much, he was very self conscious and struggled with the insecurities that came with his appearance. Sometimes he felt like a freak, because of the comments he got and the constant staring of people. His parents split up when he was 9 years old. By the time he was 14 years old he was a head taller than his teacher.
Olivier was born with a condition called pectus excavatum, which makes the ribs grow inwards and thus compressing the heart and cardiac muscles. A CT scan revealed that Olivier's heart was 20% smaller, than it should have been. Olivier underwent a very painful surgery when he was about 17 or 18 years old. During this surgery, the doctors broke all of his ribs in order to allow them to regrow in the right manner. His road to recovery was quite challenging, because he had to regain basic movement. The surgery resulted in Olivier's heart and lungs to grow to their normal size and six months after the surgery he was back to normal. Besides being tall, he was also very slender and this made him very insecure. He said that at that time he didn't want to look into the mirror anymore, it seemed like a curse. At the time Olivier was growing about 4 cm a month.
It was time to to something about his physique and he hit the gym and started doing fitness. He says he didn't hit the gym because he wanted to become a bodybuilder. He did wanted to take on the lifestyle of a bodybuilder to see his body change in the mirror and become more happy about his looks. He started reading books and also watching bodybuilders, to see how he should go about it. He started following Jay Cutler a famous bodybuilder) and started eating his meals. This was the start of a journey of 8 years of determination, training and eating. During this gained 70 kilos. At the time he was 218 cm tall and 150 kilos. This was the time when he looked in the mirror and felt good about himself, the curse was broken. Besides his physical training, Olivier also didn't forget to train his brain. He attended the University of Utrecht, where he studied Business Informatics and he earned his Master of Science. To keep up his physique Olivier had to eat 7 meals a day, so he spent a lot of time in the kitchen. He wondered if he could do something about this 'lost' time. One of Olivier's family members worked in the meat industry and he provided him with ready to eat chicken dices. He put those in his freezer, but when his gym buddies heard about that they wanted them too. This is where the idea for his company was born. Olivier founded Muscle Meat and a few years later it grew out to an online venture with more than 250 products that are healthy and convenient to keep up the lifestyle.
Muscle Meat gave Olivier more time to do other things he wanted to have a go at, like acting. He now had more time to go to auditions and casting calls. In 2020, Olivier got his first notable role in 1 episode of the Sky Tv series "Gangs of London", where he played the role of Duncan. In 2021 his breakthrough came when he entered the MCU when he played Ursa in "Black Widow". He also has a role of a guard in "The King's Man" and the role f Journeyman Boxer in "The Electrical Life of Louis Wain". In 2023, he played the role of Hauke in "Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny". This year he played Krom in "Borderlands" and a career in Hollywood seems more and more probable. Besides acting in movies and series, he also appears in commercials and music videos. He is a trained combat boxer and much more. His willingness to try new things and take on every chance that he gets, make him a force to be reckoned with. Next year he will play the role of Paulie in the Amazon Prime series "Reacher".
Olivier Richters will be a guest at comic con on both days.
