The 100

Calling Ark Station... Ark Station? Attention to all "The 100" fans, this weekend Australia's power couple will be visiting Belgium for Heroes Comic Con Belgium! In the show, their relationship is not romantic, but they are one of the most popular couples. In real life they are married and parents of a wonderful son named Henry. I am talking about Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor, who play Clarke and Bellamy on "The 100" !!! Let us tell you some more about them.

Bob Morley

Robert Alfred Morley was born on December 20th, 1984 in Kyneton (Victoria, Australia). There isn't a lot to be found about his family, but here is what we do know. Bob is the youngest son of a Filipina mother and an Australian-Irish father. He has two older sisters and one older brother. Young Bob grew up on a farm in rural Australia and developed an interest in acting at a young age. During his school years, he participated in various school plays and productions. He studied Drama at school all the way through year 11 (about 17 years of age), when he was kicked out. In later interviews Bob admits that he was a bit of a brat. He was an excellent performer, but he did not make his homework, which resulted in bad academic results. Despite of this, he was captain of the Drama team, but he school probably did not want Bob to be an example to other students, so they kicked him out of the Drama department.

Eventually Bob did graduate from high school and he moved to Melbourne. He enrolled in the University of Melbourne to study geological engineering. Six months later, this adventure came to an end, when Bob dropped ou. He wanted to pursue a professional acting career and to achieve this goal, he decided to enroll in the Creative Arts study at the La Trobe University (also in Melbourne). Besides this, he also he got himself an agent. During his years at La Trobe, he starred in university theatre productions, but he also did some plays and short films. In 2005, Bob played a part in the play "Angels With Dirty Faces" and this part brought him under the attention of some casting directors. Among these were the casting directors of one of Australia's longest running soaps: "Home and Away". Bob got the chance to audition for the role of the troubled and rebellious Drew Curtis. He landed the role and this had him have to relocate to Sydney. Over the years that followed, his star rose higher and in 2007, he participated in Australia's celebrity singing competition "It Takes Two", where he was paired with professional singer Jade MacRae (they came in 5th of 10). In 2008, his journey on the soap "Home and Away" came to an end and Bob was cast for the role of Tony Moretti in "The Strip". Unfortunately the show got cancelled after only one season.

In 2011, Bob returned to daytime television, when he got the role of Aidan Foster in one of Australia's most popular soaps "Neighbours". The show revolves around the lives of the residents of Ramsay Street. Aidan was the love interest of established character Chris Pappas and they became the show's first gay couple. Bob stayed on this show until 2013 and did some other projects during this years. In 2013, he played Nick in the rugby drama "Blinder". Bob's global breakthrough came in the year 2014, when he joined the cast of "The 100". The show became immensely popular in a very short time And Bob's character Bellamy,  became one of the most popular characters. The story revolves around a group of 100 young delinquents, that get sent down to earth to see if it is habitable (after a devastating nuclear apocalypse 97 years earlier). The show went on for 7 seasons and ended in 2020. But during his years on "The 100" Bob had a lot of 'side projects' including the completion of the Television Directors' Workshop at Warner Brothers in 2018. In 2019, he secretly married his "The 100" co-star Eliza Taylor (who plays the role of Clarke and will also be a guest at Heroes Comic Con Brussels).  From 2021 until 2023, Bob played a supporting role as Peter in 12 episodes of the TV mini series "Love Me". Also in 2023, Bob played the role of Nate in the comedy series "In Limbo"

Our experience:

We met Bob Morley at FACTS 2021, where we did a photo op with him. During the photo op, you don't have a lot of time to chat and things go really fast. However, he seemed very nice and polite. At FACTS, we did not get the chance to attend his panel, but luckily we got a second chance at Heroes Dutch Comic Con Summer 2023.  Over all, Bob seems to be a very nice guy, who takes a lot of time for his fans.

Bob Morley will be a guest at Heroes Comic Con Belgium on both days.

Eliza Taylor

Eliza Jane Taylor-Cotter was born on 24 October 1989 in Melbourne, Australia. She has two sisters and a brother. Her parents divorced when Eliza was a young girl, but she always kept in touch with her father (Paul Taylor), who owned multiple bars in Melbourne. Eliza's mother (Lucinda Cotter) is an author and graphic designer, while her stepfather was a standup comedian and a big influence in her choice to pursue an acting career. Young Eliza wanted to become a marine biologist and she was very much interested in reef conservation and animal life in the sea. Eventually her love for theatre and her dream of becoming an actress took over.

Eliza started acting professionally, while she was still in high school (Calder High School). Eliza's mother signed her into an acting class to get rid of her shyness. In 2003, she landed her first lead roles in two TV shows. Eliza played the role of Sarah Redding in 26 episodes of "Pirate Islands" and she also played the role of Rosie Cartwright in 26 episodes of "The Sleepover Club". From 2003 until 2007, Eliza played the role of Janae Timmins in the Australian soap opera "Neighbours" (where many Australian stars got their start). Late 2007, Eliza made her way to the United Kingdom to perform in theatre and pantomime. She felt she had to challenge herself, because after her time on Neighbours, all that camerawork became a bit boring. Being on stage in the UK was a very new experience for her and she loved it.During her time in the UK, she also played in some TV shows and movies, like: "All Saints" (2009), "The Laundromat" (2010) and the horror movie "The 6 Plots".

After her time in the UK, Eliza decided to move to Los Angeles and pursue a career in Hollywood. After about a month of auditioning, her credit card was stolen and she was ready to pack her bags. She was sure that her time in Hollywood was up and then she got a phone call that changed her life. The producers of a new show called "The 100", saw a tape of one of her auditions for a movie and they were very interested in meeting her. Eliza got her big break, when she got the lead role of Clarke Griffin in the post-apocalyptic drama "The 100", which became a huge success. She played the role for a 100 episodes over 7 seasons (from 2014 until 2020). In 2019, Eliza married her "The 100" co-star Bob Morley and in 2022 they became the parents of a son. Among recent roles are her role as Ruby in the movie "It Only Takes The Night" (2023) and her role as Hannah Carson in "Quantum Leap" (since 2023, 7 episodes). Besides being a wonderful actress, Eliza is also an advocate for body positivity and urges women to accept their bodies as they are. And one of the other things Eliza deems important is children's education. She opened two schools in poor parts of the world (one in Thailand and one in Papua New Guinea). In a recent podcast, she talked about her struggle with post natal depression after the birth of her son.

Our own experience:

In 2022, I (Liv) met Eliza Taylor at Facts Fall in Ghent. Covid regulations had just left the building, so selfies were possible again. Eliza was very nice and Liv also attended her panel that day. Last year we both attended her panels at Heroes Dutch Comic Con.  It's commonly known that Eliza (and Bob)  are very grateful towards their fans and we can only encourage you to go and meet them at Heroes Comic Con in Belgium.

Eliza Taylor will be a guest at Heroes Comic Con Belgium on both days.

Supernatural

The next guest is mostly known for his divine role in "Supernatural" and he is most recognisable in his brown raincoat. We also love him in the role of Harvey Dent in "Gotham Knights".  Last summer we met him at Heroes Dutch Comic Con and now he is coming to Brussels...

Misha Collins

Misha Collins was born Dmitri Tippens Krushnic on 20 August, 1974 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the second son of Rebecca Tippens and Richard Edward Krushnic. Ever since he was a young boy, people used to call him by his nickname Misha instead of Dmitri. His mother was an avid fan of all things Russia and in later interviews Misha says she would call him and his big brother Sasha her little Russian boys. They ate a lot of Borsch (Russian soup) and there were Matryoshka dolls all around the house, which is strange because Misha's Eastern European roots go back more than 150 years. Well..., why the love for Russian things then? In interviews, Misha calls his mother a hippie, who wanted to bring communism back to the US. While she was in college, she visited Russia and dated a boy named Mitja (his real name was Dmitri). Much to Richard's dismay, she named their second son after him. So Misha was born Dmitri Tippens Krushnic, but changed his name to Misha Collins before starting acting professionally. He chose the name Misha, because everyone was calling him by his nickname anyway and the name Collins came from his maternal great grandmother.

Misha's mother acted in community theatre and was a professional storyteller, while his father worked at a 7-Eleven (convenience store). His parents split up, when he was only 3 or 4 years old. Misha's mother took him and his older brother Sasha and moved across the state to get away from their father. Every other weekend the boys would take a three hour long bus ride to visit him. At some point, Misha's father remarried and he got two more daughters (Misha's half-sisters).

Misha's first time on stage, was when he was 4 years old in a play with his mother in the lead role. The family did not have a lot of money and when Misha was 5 years old, his mother taught him how to steal groceries in the supermarket. They had to do this to get by. The family often led a nomadic life and sometimes they were homeless. They slept in their car or in a tent in the woods. But there were also times that they did not have a car and they used to hitchhike or jump aboard trains. Nowadays Misha describes his childhood as adventurous, but also lacking the sense of security other children had. Misha says he grew up surrounded by danger, especially at times they were homeless.

Misha went to Greenfield Center School (elementary school) in Greenfield (MA). After that, he went to high school at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Gil, (MA). While he was in high school, Misha used to pretend that he was a Russian exchange student. He would do things like: go into a pizza restaurant and then pretend that he never had pizza before. Then they would invite him in the kitchen and show him how to make an American pizza. During his high school years, Misha also met his future wife Victoria Vantoch (married in 2001 and divorced in 2022). He graduated high school in 1992 and in the following year(s), Misha worked a variety of jobs. While he was growing up, Misha's family never owned a TV, but he loved listening to the radio. After his graduation, he landed an internship at NPR (National Public Radio), which was like a dream come true. Misha was also an intern at the White House (during the Clinton administration). Besides this Misha worked as a  carpenter, he worked in construction and even earned an EMT certificate. He went on to study Social Theory at the University of Chicago and earned a B. A. with honors. After graduation, Misha moved to Washington D.C. with his partner Victoria and started a software company.

Misha decided to take an acting class and a career change was at hand. One of his first roles was in the 1999 movie "Liberty Heights". Also in 1999, he had a minor (one episode) role (as Eric Bragg)  in "Charmed" and a minor role as Tony in the movie "Girl, Interrupted". Not long after this, Misha moved to Los Angeles. From 2000 until 2008, he made a name for himself with (minor) roles in movies and TV shows, like: "NYPD Blue" (2000, Blake DeWitt), "Seven Days" (2001, Sergei Chubais), "Par 6" (2002, Al Hegelman), "24" (2002, Alexis Drazen), "Finding Home" (2003, Dave), "E.R." (2005, Bret) and "Monk" ( 2006, Michael Karpov). Because of his relation to Russia and having visited the country, he was often asked to play Russian characters. In 2008 he gained worldwide fame when he joined the cast of "Supernatural" for the fourth season of the show. He was cast as the angel Castiel, but initially showrunner Eric Kripke had him audition as a demon. This way he could keep the coming of the angels a secret. Eventually he played the role of Castiel for 12 seasons until 2020. During his time on "Supernatural", Misha also played some other roles on movies and TV shows, like: "Over Her Dead Body" (2008, Brian), "Nip/Tuck" (2009, Manny Skerritt), "Stonehenge Apocalypse" (2010, Jacob), "Divine: The Series" (2011, Father Christopher), "Timeless" (2017, Eliot Ness), "The Hillywood Show (2015-2018, various roles), "The Angel of Vine" (2018-2019, as Adler Harrison). Over the last years, he kept on going strong on the acting front. In 2021, he played the role of Dylan in "Encounter". From 2021 until 2023 he played Jeremy Bradshaw in 11 episodes of "Bridgewater". In 2023, he played Harvey Dent in 13 episodes of "Gotham Knights". Most recently, Misha reprised his role as Jeremy Bradshaw in the podcast series "Consumed".

Our experience:

We met Misha Collins at the Summer edition of Heroes Dutch Comic Con in 2024 and we had a lot of fun. First of all, if you're a fan of Misha (but also if you don't know who he is) go to his panel! The guy is a hoot and a half. He has a lot of fun stories from set. He has a great sense of humor and talks about everything you want to know. We also went up to his table, where he wasn't very chatty, but he was very nice towards us. I (Liv) did a selfie at the table and it was nice to meet the guy behind the o so serious Castiel.

Misha Collins will be a guest at Heroes Comic Con Belgium on both days.
