Okay, May hasn't been the best month for me in the amount of movies I watched. The amount is low. Very low. Lower than low. And it's all because of.. movies! Haha. And "Game of Thrones". Blame "Game of Thrones". Yeah. This month we replaced the old DVD shelves by new ones. Because the old ones weren't big enough. Sounds easy? It's not. We had to move over 2000 DVDS, which took quite a few weekends and evenings. Which means: less times for movies. But I did see a few, so let's talk about those!
Carola
Villa Captive
Year: 2011
Genre: Crime/ Thriller
IMDB score: 3,8
My score: 5
Remark: I bought this movie at Gent Comic Con and watched it not soon after. It's a movie I bought at Zeno Pictures.
John Wick 3
Year: 2019
Genre: Crime/ Thriller
IMDB score: 8
My score: 8
Remark: I just had to watch this movie in the cinema. I loves John Wick & John Wick 2. And John Wick 3 was great as well! It's also starring Jerome Flynn!
Ma
Year: 2019
Genre: Horror/ Thriller
IMDB score: 6,2
My score: 7,5
Remark: We watched this movie in the cinema on Liv's birthday. We were actually planning on seeing Godzilla or Rocketman. But we ended up at 'Ma', a movie I knew little about. And... I really loved it!
Hotel Mumbai
Year: 2018
Genre: Drama/ Thriller
IMDB score: 7,8
My score: 8
Remark: I have a cinema subscription now for 3 months, so I will be going to the movies quite often these coming months. Hotel Mumbai was the first one to see with the subscription and I think it's a great movie!
Liv
"Sigh"....if only there were more hours in a day. There is just so much to do and there is so little time ha ha ha. I always wish I could find the time to watch a move a day, but alas. I did manage to watch some great movies this month. These are the movies I watched in May!
Avengers: Endgame
Year: 2019
Genre: Action/Adventure
IMDB score: 8,8
My score: 9,2
Remark: The month of May (in movies) started with the amazing "Avengers: Endgame". I watched it in the cinema (of course) and I absolutely loved it. As you know I am a big fan of the Marvel movies and "Endgame" blew my mind. Loved it!
Searching
Year: 2018
Genre: Mystery/ Thriller
IMDB score: 7,7
My score: 8
Remark: I loved this movie. The story revolves around David Kim (John Cho), who has to break into his daughter's laptop after she goes missing. The story is told entirely through laptop screens. I highly recommend it.
Return to the Blue Lagoon
Year: 1991
Genre: Adventure/Drama
IMDB score: 5,2
My score: 6
Remark: During the first weekend of May, Comic Con Ghent was held in the ICC Citadelpark in Ghent (Belgium). One of the guests was Brian Krause, who is mostly known for his role as Whitelighter Leo in "Charmed". Besides this Krause is also known for his role as Richard in "Return to the Blue Lagoon" (the 1991 sequel to "The Blue Lagoon"). Because of this I decided to watch it in the week before Comic Con Ghent.
What about Bob?
Year: 1991
Genre: Comedy
IMDB score: 7
My score: 8,5
Remark: More or less once a month we have a dinner and movie night with my brother. The theme of this movie night was Bill Murray. The first movie we watched was "What about Bob", which stars Bill Murray as the incredibly annoying yet lovable Bob.
Ma
Year: 2019
Genre: Horror/ Thriller
IMDB score: 6,1
My score: 6
Remark: On my birthday we decided to go to the cinema together. I would have loved to see the 4DX version of "Godzilla: King of the Monsters", but it was more or less sold out (there were some places on the front row, but my neck does not like those places :)). We decided to go to "Ma", the new horror movie from the producer of "Happy Death Day" and "Get Out".
Groundhog Day
Year: 1993
Genre: Comedy
IMDB score: 8
My score: 9
Remark: The second movie of our Bill Murray Movie Night was the awesome "Groundhog Day", which is one of his best (in my opinion). In "Groundhog Day", Murray plays the role of the slightly arrogant TV weatherman Phil, who has to go to a little village to cover the annual "Groundhog Day". The trouble starts when Phil wakes up the next day and finds out that he has to relive the day....over and over and over again.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile
Year: 2019
Genre: Biography/Crime
IMDB score: 6,7
My score: 6,5
Remark: This 2019 Netflix Original movie revolves around the crimes and trial of Ted Bundy. It mainly focuses on Bundy's relationship with single mother Elizabeth Kendall. John Malkovich is amazing as Judge Cowart.
The Secret Life of Pets 2
Year: 2019
Genre: Animation/Comedy
IMDB score: 6,4
My score: 7
Remark: The much awaited sequel to "The Secret Life of Pets" (2016), which follows the secret life of dog Max and his pet friends after their owners leave for work. I just love these animation movies!
