Series talk: Dead to Me

We can never get enough of series to watch. I'm always on the hunt for new ones and always willing to try our something new. And yes, I often fall for the Netflix recommendations. This time was no different. Netflix kindly suggested Dead To Me, and I followed the advice. 

Dead to Me is a new drama/ comedy series starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini. Jen's husband got hit by a car and died. They never found the one who did it. She still tries to find out what happened. To cope with her grief, she decides goes to a grief council group. There she meets the free spirited Judy.  Even though they are very different a friendship starts to unfold. 

I loved it! I'm happy that I decided to watch this series. To be honest: It was that moment in the trailer where Judy asks Jen: "Can I give you hug" an Jen's like:"No". Hahaha. I have seen this as a meme/ gif already on social media and it as definitely the moment I decided to watch this. It sets the tone for the humor in this series. 

I like it how they work with this totally opposite characters. I love seeing their friendship develop. To see how they inspire and help each other, but also to see the moments where it goes wrong. 

The best of this series is that kept surprising me. It's not a predictable story and it succeeded in keeping me interested. I was always curious to see how it would develop. And even though the subject is sad, there's a lot of humor in there just like in the series After Life. 

The main characters in After Life are Jen Harding (played by Christine Applegate) and Judy Hale (played by Linda Cardellini). I was mainly already familiar with Christina. I know her for Married of children of course, but also for Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. I wasn't very familiar with Linda. But I did see her in the Founder (and Legally Blonde, I think). I loved both of them since the very start! They are such a great duo in the series and I just love their characters. Christina is wonderful as a down to earth, frustrated widow. And Linda plays this free spirited woman with so much energy. It was a lot of fun to watch both of them. And they strengthen each others characters.
