Series Tip: Pretty Little Liars

After Carola's courageous coming out about her new addiction last week, I feel this week it's my turn to talk about my addiction: "Pretty Little Liars".

When my friend Vivian told me about the series I felt like it wasn't really my cup of tea. On top of that I was watching so many series ( "Arrow", "The Flash", "Gotham", "The Walking Dead", "Game of Thrones", "Legends of Tomorrow", "The 100") I thought I couldn't set my mind to another one at that moment. Boy was I wrong!

 After only 1 or 2 episodes I was hooked and that cost me a lot of sleep. I try to watch an episode everytime I have a free hour. I even watched some on my phone while in bed.

"Pretty Little Liars" revolves around a group of 5 friends: Spencer (Troian Bellisario),  Aria (Lucy Hale), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Allison(Sasha Pieterse). The story begins when the girls have a sleepover in an old barn and we see them having a drink and gossip. When they wake up Alison is gone and turns out to be missing. We skip to a year later and the other four girls seem to have drifted apart. Aria has been in Iceland with her family for a year. Hanna made friends with Mona (Janell Parish) and their main interest is shoplifting. Emily is struggling with her sexuality and Spencer is caught up in wanting and needing to be the best in everything she does. When the police find Alison' s body burried in her own backyard the girls grow closer again. They start getting messages from a mysterious person who goes by the name of "A" and get entangled in a web of lies. The plot thickens when "A"  begins to send them messages about things no one but the girls and Alison know about and seems to be watching their every move.

There are a lot of young, "new" faces in "Pretty Little Liars", but there are some familiar ones. Aria's mom, Ella, for example is played by the wonderful Holly Marie Combs. Does that ring a bell? No? Shame on you!  Combs played Piper Halliwell in the tv show "Charmed" and boy oh boy did I love that show...Piper was my favourite character in the show, so I was pleasantly surprised to see Holly Marie Combs as Mrs. Montgomery. Her personality kind of resembles that of Piper in "Charmed", so that's great to watch. And then there is Mr. Montgomery (Aria's dad), played by Chad Lowe; another familiar face. Looking at the main characters,  I like Troian Bellisario (Spencer) the most. Everyone of the girls has their own characteristics: Spencer is the smart one, Emily is the loyal one, Hana is the sweet one and Aria is the caring one. I must say I like all of them, except for Alison (you will see her in flasbacks). She is just SO annoying (guess that makes Sasha Pieterse a good actress though lol). I also like Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) as Hana's boyfriend and Ezra (Ian Harding) as Aria's.

If you like the whole "Who did it" kind of thing, suspense and plot twists, you will love "Pretty Little Liars". Of course there is some highschool stuff in it, but overall it's very exciting and mysterious and most of all VERY addictive. Just try it!                        

Season 7 just started a few weeks ago.

I love "Pretty Little Liars". I'm watching season 5 right now and I can't wait to watch the next episode. Sometimes the storylines are a little far fetched but that does not bother me at all. I really can not explain why I love it like I do. It's just very addictive; trying to find out who "A" is and what will happen in the next episode. Let me just give you one tip: Do not search on google for the show because that will have spoilers written all over it.
