Tip of the week: The Flash

"The Flash" is a spin-off from "Arrow". It is based on the character Flash/ Barry Allen from the DC Comics. Barry Allen gains superspeed. He's the fastest man alive. He uses it to fight criminals (Including villians with superhuman abilities a.k.a 'meta humans')

How about the actors?

The Flash is portrayed by Grant Gustin. Grant is an American actor and singer. Before playing in "The Flash", he was already known for playing Sebastian Smythe in "Glee" and Campbell Price in "90210". Other big names from "The Flash" are Candice Patton (Iris West), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow), Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon) and Jessie L Martin (Joe West). This weekend ( June 25th & 26th) Liv and I are going to Arccon. Arccon is a fan convention with guests from the series "The Flash" and "Arrow".  At Arccon we will meet at least 2 actors from "The Flash": Rick Cosnett (Eddie Thawne) and Shantel VanSanten (Patty Spivot)! And since there are crossovers with "Arrow", there obviously is some overlap in the actors. During the crossovers, some actors from "The Flash" play in "Arrow" and the other way around! At Arccon, We met Rick CosnettViolett Beane (Jesse) and Shantel vanSanten! Don't forget to check out the articles we wrote about these experiences!

Who will like this?

It's a bit the same as I told you with Arrow: If you like superheroes, check this out! I personally never watched a lot of superhero movies or series, but I like "The Flash". So even if you're not into Superman etc, try it out. But: I have to be honest: It's one step further than "Arrow". "The Flash" is even more about superheroes, villains and all sorts of meta humans. And then there's time travelling. Sometimes things go a bit too fast for me. So, it actually is different from "Arrow". I think "Arrow" is easier to follow. With "The Flash", you really need to keep a close eye on what's happening!

How many seasons?

2 seasons up untill now. The show is still running.

My opinion

I started to watch "The Flash", because I was already watching "Arrow". There were some episodes that crossed over so reason enough to start watching. I like the series, the characters are likeable, the storyline is nice. I like the fights, the villains but also the personal development of the characters. Especially Barry and Iris' relationship (Or maybe I should say the absence of a relationship) and their personal matters. The other characters are also very likeable. You get attached to the characters. That's what makes me come back to watch. However, sometimes the time travelling and all the meta humans are a bit much for me. I will have to find out the upcoming seasons how the balance will be and if will keep on enjoying it to watch the series. For now, it's still fun for me to watch. But the combination of time travelling, meta humans and earth 2 drives to me to the edge of what I can handle.  But I also have to admit: I can't sit and just watch a series. I have to 10 things at the same time. And that's kind of hard hen you're watching "The Flash". Before I know it they travelled trough time and everything has changed again! Our absolute favorite actor in "The Flash" is Rick Cosnett.  Really hoping he'll be back in season 3.  (Then we'll never stop watching!)

I have yet to watch this show as I've not heard of it,but the IMDB score is seriously quite high, so I'm gonna put this into my must watch list of shows when I'm really free and have nothing to do!

I have seen a few episodes of the Flash but I got a bit distracted with the storylines somehow. Maybe it is worth giving another shot I may have to start with the very first episode. Cast wise though I think they have a good line up.

The series is really great although you might have spelled it wrong, his name is Barry. The series really took off and did a great impact. I do wonder what will happen in the third season after seeing that finale from season 2.

I like the Flash. I love watching reruns. I just like it. EVEN IF there were horrible scripts such as when Flash gave up his speedforce to Zoom after the villain had let go of Wally. It was over already. Flash at that point had the speed to stop Zoom, instead, he ... horrible script. Still I love watching it. Oh, yeah, the crossover with Supergirl rocks!

I have been rooting for The CW super hero TV shows from the get go. But, I might say that the plot of The Flash has gotten too far off for a casual viewer like me to remain invested in. It's still a fun show. But, I sometimes have to try hard to remind myself why I care about a said character.

Your post remind me of reviewing The Flash since season 2 ended ! I love this show so much, and way much more than Arrow now.
I can understand, without being too much into Superheroes, but also without being too much into DC Comics, sometimes it can be heavy. There's loads of fan service, and actually even more than Arrow. To me, Arrow was good, but they started to take so many bad choices according to comics. Even though it can be adapted, it destroyed some HUGE plots from the comics. And the more I watch, the more I think it focuses on Oliver and Felicity relationship and it even loses quality. Sometimes you see secondary characters do dumb move behind that wasn't cut or something you know.
In the other hand, I was sckeptical for Flash at first, since I started from the cross-overs like most of us (Nice marketing there haha). First season had loads of up and down. Was hard for them to get away from Arrow, was gaining some quality then losing some. Season 2 started to get better, still some down sometimes but so many things going that for a DC fans is awesome. But you can just compare the final of The Flash and of Arrow and see how Arrow became boring in my opinion. I can't say why, otherwise I might spoil DC fans about the ending but I'm so thrilled for S3, that after buying Supergirl on the CW and having Legends of Tomorrow, that FLASH is one maybe pulling everything together and messing all around, being really the core in the middle. I love the show Haha

You have such great taste in TV! My boyfriend got me into Flash, even though I haven't watched the TV show yet, but I am reading the DC Rebirth :) So I am hoping eventually to start watching the show as well, and I will let you know what I think about it

I'm familiar w/ both series, but not closely following it unlike smallville. I never thought though that flash is a spin off from arrow.

Was reading all the comments and am reacting to Xavier here.

The ending for Flash season 2 was ... how do I say it ... it's like how stupid can he be? So there, you don't go messing with time, right? But even so, I think that's a part of the appeal too. Because that act sort of humanized him.

Think about it. If you have all these powers, wouldn't you do the same?

So here's hoping that what you say is right for season 3, Xavier. It seems to me Flash has pulled away from Arrow. Let's see how Supergirl does the same in the coming years (and yes, I hope years.)
